About Bar-Be-Quick

Bar-Be-Quick developed, designed, manufactured and marketed the UK’s first Instant Barbecue back in 1986 and now supplies throughout the UK, Europe and the Middle East.  Bar-Be-Quick were also the first Company to successfully produce, market and sell Instant Lighting Charcoal some years later in 1991.

The development of the Bar-Be-Quick Instant Barbecue and Bar-Be-Quick Instant Lighting Lumpwood Charcoal has been our passion over the last 20 years!

Bar-Be-Quick, a privately owned company, operates from premises in Burnley, Lancashire. The site comprises of 140,000 sq. ft. of warehousing and production facilities which supports two production lines for the Instant Barbecues and the packing of Instant Lighting Lumpwood Charcoal products. 


Bar-Be-Quick was the first UK charcoal supplier to obtain FSC certification for its charcoal products and recently became the first global supplier of Fairly Traded Charcoal

How is charcoal produced?

The basic method of producing charcoal is simple and has remained relatively unchanged over the centuries.  Invader bushes (which encroach the Namibian landscape causing economic, social and environmental difficulties) are harvested by our farmers.
 

This is loaded into a kiln and carbonised over a 3 day period.
 

Our farmers are skilled in loading the kiln at the highest efficiency.  It is not an exact science and can depend upon the timber type, weather and area of grassland. 

Once the burn is complete and the kiln cooled, the charcoal is collected

and sent to our factory where it is graded, bagged accordingly and shipped over to the UK.  It is then converted into a finished product.
